Nearby St. Feliu is not a big resort and has a feeling of real Catalonia. The people are welcoming and genuinely friendly and all bars and restuarants are child friendly. The local food is excellent and fresh, and the wines are delightful, (be sure to try Bornos if you like your white wine). Don't expect English teas or fish and chips - those are for the big resorts. St. Feliu is traditionally Catalan and geared towards people who like 'things Catalan'.
